In my opinion, this is the best and most beautiful game I’ve ever seen
I can spend hours playing it without getting bored, moreover I went through it many times.
I don’t know why, but I have a strange but nice feeling while playing this game .. It’s unique and different from any other game….

The minimum system requirements to run FINAL FANTASY VIII PC are:

Computer: Must be Intel or 100% Intel compatible.

CPU: With 3D Accelerator: Pentium 200MHz or equivalent (Pentium II 266MHz is recommended).
Without 3D Accelerator (i.e. software rendering): Pentium II 266MHz.

Video Card: 8MB Direct3D-compatible 3D accelerator for 3D hardware accelerator. 4MB SVGA Video Card for software rendering.

Sound Card: DirectMusic and DirectSound compatible sound card.

CD-ROM: 8X CD-ROM

Memory: 32MB of RAM (64MB is recommended)

DirectX: Microsoft DirectX 6.1 or later is required to be installed to play FINAL FANTASY VIII PC. DirectX 6.1 is included on the installation CD.

HDD Space: FINAL FANTASY VIII PC requires at least 300MB of hard drive space to install. In addition, the player may install Optional Game Data which will enhance the speed of the screen transitions. However, this requires an additional 300MB. The player will also need to have enough disk space for the Save Games and Windows Swap file!

Mounting CDs FIX
============

For the users who mount the CDs, here’s the solution:

Press Start and go to Run, type in regedit, drop down the following folders on the left side, hkey_local_machine, software, square soft inc, final fantasy viii then click on 1.00.
over to the right in the main box now, right click on datapath and select modify, change the drive letter to what ever CD drive your using followed by :, ie f: and it will work fine, and to the problem with a missing disk is solved.

Note : If you can’t find the value "Datapath" in "hkey_local_machine, software, square soft inc, final fantasy viii then click on 1.00", you will have to BURN the discs to blank CDs. It will work fine even without using the launcher nor changing anything in the registry.

NVidia FIX
=======

If you have NVidia videocard you might end up getting stupid black boxes, here’s the fix for that:

1. Download the Nvidia 1.2 Patch of FFVIII

OR

2. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Setup
(You will need it if u want to run ff8 launcher v.1.31)

3. Finally Download FF8 Launcher v.1.31

How to use it:
1. Unrar the Nvidia patch into game directory (replace all of the files)
2. Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Setup
3. Unrar FF8 Launcher v.1.31 into a folder of your choice.
(I put the files in the game directory)
4. Run FF8_Launcher.exe, choose your resolution,
activate 8-bit pallets texture fix and if you’re using a widescreen
resolution also activate Stretch 4:3 Aspect Ratio.
